Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich recently rejected a takeover offer from a Middle East consortium, according to a report.

The Russian has rarely been at Stamford Bridge in the last couple of years following the UK's tightening of visa regulations on foreign wealthy nationals, sparking rumours that he may be considering his investments.

However, The Telegraph reports that Abramovich, who bought the club in 2003, rejected the consortium's offer and made it clear that it was not for sale.

The report does suggest, though, that the Chelsea owner would consider an offer in the region of £3bn.

Abramovich is also believed to have been approached by Britain's richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose company INEOS bought Nice in the summer, with the 67-year-old also owning Swiss side Lausanne-Sport.
