Garry Monk: 'Give Manager of the Year to Jose Mourinho'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho deserves to win Manager of the Year for his capacity to adapt and thrive in different games, says Swansea's Garry Monk.

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has revealed that Chelsea's Jose Mourinho has his vote for the Premier League Manger of the Year.

The Blues, who won the Capital One Cup in March, need just one more win to pick up a first league title since 2010, with Mourinho's side 13 points clear at the summit.

The Portuguese came under fire from Arsenal fans on Sunday for his perceived negative approach during the 0-0 draw away to the Gunners, with the home supporters labelling Chelsea as "boring".

However, Monk, tipped for the award himself by Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew, says that it is his capacity to adapt and thrive in different games that makes him the stand-out candidate.

"I think Jose Mourinho is without doubt the manager of the year," he told reporters. "Chelsea have won the League Cup and they are just about to win the league.

"They have been unbelievable and Chelsea are probably the perfect example of how to win games in different ways.

"This is how you win championships, by having different ways to win and different ways to get results."

Swansea, who were touted for relegation before the season began, are closing in on an eighth-place finish - their highest ever finish in the Premier League.
