Chelsea transfer news: Cesare Casadei asking price compromise to be found with Torino?

Chelsea and Torino reportedly remain on course to agree a compromise over a fee for midfielder Cesare Casadei over the coming days.

Chelsea reportedly remain keen to reach a financial agreement with Torino regarding the sale of Cesare Casadei.

The 21-year-old has been provided with 424 minutes spread across six appearances this season, either in the EFL Cup or Conference League.

However, with the Italy Under-21 international featuring for just 71 minutes of Premier League football since his arrival in 2022, there is an acceptance that parting ways could be the best solution for all concerned.

Earlier this week, a report emerged suggesting that Torino had made their move to try to negotiate a deal for the former Inter Milan youngster, who is also yet to play a single minute of Serie A action.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, there have been developments over the past 48 hours.

Di Marzio claims that Chelsea were initially looking to recoup €20m (£16.6m) for Casadei. This is the fee that Chelsea would have paid Inter if all add-ons had been activated.

Furthermore, Chelsea are also said to have requested a buy-back clause in the event that Casadei goes on to fulfil his potential at Torino.

Instead, Il Toro are currently only offering €12m (£10m) plus a percentage of any future sale, that seemingly being their preferred option over being left open to potentially making a profit if Casadei ever returned to Chelsea.

Casadei is said to have given the green light to a transfer to Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and seemingly wants a transfer wrapped up as soon as possible.

As it stands, the two clubs will reportedly reconvene on Tuesday or Wednesday in an effort to reach a compromise over a fee and any add-ons.

While Monza have previously been linked with Casadei, it is claimed that priority is now being given to Torino.

Would Casadei's game time increase?

When Samuele Di Ricci was being linked with clubs such as Manchester City, it appeared that Casadei may have been touted as a like-for-like replacement.

However, the Italy international extended his contract last week, with Casadei seemingly earmarked as someone to play alongside Di Ricci and one other player in Paolo Vanoli's five-player midfield.

If Chelsea do cash in on Casadei, they may consider recalling Andrey Santos from his loan stint at Strasbourg, particularly when Romeo Lavia continues to suffer fitness issues.
