The Football Association says that the Serbian police has not informed it about any charges against any of the England Under-21 players or staff.

The Football Association has revealed that it has not been officially notified by the Serbian police of their decision to charge two unnamed England Under-21 players.

The two players are among 12 people who have been charged for their involvement in altercations towards the end of a Euro 2013 qualifying match between the two teams, which England won 1-0.

"Further to the Serbian Police announcement regarding charging England Under-21s players and staff, the Football Association can confirm it has not received any formal notification of any charges filed by the Serbian authorities," reads a statement on the FA's official website.

"We have not been made aware of any of the names of individuals connected with these charges and we therefore await further details and formal communication on these matters.

"Meanwhile, we are in contact with the British Government for advice, as well as speaking with our colleagues at UEFA."

The FA added that it supports its players and staff involved in the brawl.

"The FA reiterates its position of full support for all players and staff caught up in the appalling scenes in Serbia two weeks ago," the statement continues.

"We want to reassure those concerned that we are committed to doing everything necessary to protect them whilst also offering support to individuals and their families."

Five Serbia players and both teams' assistants have also been charged by the Serbian police.
