Former Everton forward Mark Hughes admits that the manager's job at Goodison Park would represent a 'big opportunity' for someone should it become available.

Former Everton forward Mark Hughes has insisted that someone will have "big shoes to fill" should David Moyes leave the club.

Moyes is expected to be named as the next Manchester United boss on Thursday, and Hughes has described the manager's job at Goodison Park as a "big role".

The 49-year-old told Sky Sports News: "When one manager leaves, there is an opportunity for somebody else who are currently out of work, which includes myself.

"It's a great club, who I have had the good fortune to play for, and I enjoyed my time there.

"Whoever gets that role, it is a big role at a big club, and if David Moyes leaves, then there are some big shoes to fill."

The former Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers manager is expected to be a leading contender for the role if Moyes makes the switch to Old Trafford.
