Roberto Martinez: 'We won't alter our approach'

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is adamant that he will not change his attacking style of play despite his side's struggles at the back this season.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has insisted that his side will not alter their attacking approach in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool later today.

The Toffees have struggled at the back this season as they have conceded 13 goals in the Premier League in their five matches.

However, Martinez is adamant that he will not alter his philosophy despite his side's poor defensive record to start the campaign.

"No, we'll never change our focus, we always want to win. If you can't win, draw. Fine. But we will never set out a team to try to draw a game or just hope for a win, we can't accept that," he told reporters.

"It doesn't go with the way we want to be as a football club. I don't think it goes with the way the club was in the 60s and the 80s and I don't think that's in my DNA. I'll never compromise on that."

Everton are 14th in the Premier League ahead of the Merseyside derby.
