Chris Powell: 'Millwall victory my finest moment in management'

Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell admits that the 3-1 victory over Millwall was his "best performance" as a manager to date.

Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell believes that this afternoon's 3-1 victory over Millwall was his "best performance" as a manager to date.

The two teams were locked at 1-1 at The Den when Nahki Wells was shown a red card shortly after the break, but strikes from Jacob Butterfield and James Vaughan saw the Terriers return home with all three points.

It means a fifth win in succession against the Lions for Huddersfield, and Powell was quick to take credit for his part in the triumph.

"Coming to Millwall is always a tall order and it has been a very good day for us away from home against a side who are in and around us in the league," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"We knew we had to take something from the game and that was quite easily my best performance as manager. Considering we went down to 10 men, this team, which has showed a lot of togetherness recently, put in a very good performance against the odds.

"When we went down to 10 men we felt that if we kept our shape we could keep up with Millwall and we did. Maybe Butterfield's goal was fortunate but sometimes taking that chance merits the fortune. It was a real test and I thought all my players stood up to it today, and nothing beats a win for confidence heading into our next game."

Huddersfield now find themselves in 14th place in the Championship table.
