Steve Bruce eager for Europa League run

Hull City manager Steve Bruce admits that he wants the Tigers to progress as far as possible in their first appearance in the Europa League.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he hopes to put the club "on the football map" when the Tigers make their European bow this season.

Hull earned qualification for the Europa League after reaching the FA Cup final last season, and while some clubs have considered the competition as a burden in the past, Bruce has admitted that he wants an extended run in the competition.

The 53-year-old told The Mirror: "It is an historic moment for the club - our debut in Europe - and it will be a wonderful occasion for our fans.

"We are all so excited about this European adventure, so let's hope we can have as long a journey in this competition as we did in the FA Cup last season.

"We proved anything is possible by reaching the FA Cup Final when nobody expected us to go anywhere near that far. So let's hope that this time around, we can make our way around Europe and put Hull City firmly on the football map."

Hull are likely to face Slovakian side FK AS Trencin in the third qualifying round after they opened up a 4-0 advantage over FK Vojvodina in the first leg of their tie earlier this week.
