Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Marc Guehi to Newcastle, Sammie Szmodics to Ipswich and Rabbi Matondo to Leeds.

Newly-promoted Ipswich Town have announced the signing of Sammie Szmodics from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Portman Road and leaves Blackburn after winning the Championship Golden Boot last season, scoring 27 times in 44 appearances.

Szmodics made a bright start to the new campaign with Blackburn, netting three goals in his first two matches, but he has now made the step up to the Premier League with Ipswich, who are competing in the top flight for the first time in 22 years.

"I am delighted to be here as an Ipswich Town player," the attacker told the club's official website. "There's always been interest since I was a kid, but it just felt right this time with the challenge of the Premier League.

"After speaking to a couple of the lads, including Lewis Travis who was here last season, they just pushed me and said that I need to come and work under this manager, which is something I can't wait to do.

"It's every boy's dream to play in the Premier League and I've always said to my friends, family and agents that I'll get to the top one day.

"There's nothing more I want than to score at Portman Road for Ipswich Town. I am over the moon to be here and looking forward to the season ahead."

Szmodics, along with fellow new recruit Kalvin Phillips, are in contention to make their debuts for Ipswich when they welcome Liverpool to Portman Road for their opening Premier League game of the new season on Saturday.

Palace reject £70m Guehi bid from Newcastle

Staying in the Premier League and Crystal Palace have reportedly turned down a fourth bid from Newcastle United for defender Marc Guehi.

The Magpies have made five signings so far this summer and have now identified 24-year-old Guehi as their primary target heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

It was reported earlier this week that Eddie Howe's side failed with a third bid for the England international worth £55m up front plus £5m add-ons.

ChronicleLive claims that Newcastle have since submitted a fourth offer worth a club-record £70m, but Palace deem their latest bid 'not enough'.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish recently responded to speculation about Guehi's future and stated that if Newcastle want to sign "a superstar player" they "need to pay superstar money".

Guehi has made 111 appearances in all competitions for Palace over the last three seasons and he has just under two years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park.

Leeds eye Matondo as Summerville replacement?

Elsewhere, Leeds United have reportedly identified Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo as a potential target in the remaining days of the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke's side are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements after selling last season's Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville to West Ham for around £25m plus add-ons.

According to Football Insider, Leeds are making a move for Matondo and Rangers are open to offers for the 23-year-old Wales international.

Indeed, the Gers are looking to offload some members of their first-team squad after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Matondo contributed with six goals and four assists in 31 appearances for Rangers last season and has previously played in the Championship on loan at Stoke City in 2021.
