Manchester United are reportedly "very well-informed" when it comes to Mathys Tel's situation at Bayern Munich, with the Red Devils considering a move for the forward in the latter stages of the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old is believed to have told Bayern that he wants to leave before the winter deadline, and Chelsea are said to be keeping a close eye on the developments, having been interested in the teenager over the summer.
However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Man United are also firmly in the race, with Ruben Amorim's side, who are seemingly closing in a deal for Lecce's Patrick Dorgu, considering moving for Tel if either Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho leave Old Trafford.
"Understand Manchester United considering entering the race for Mathys Tel in the event of a departure of Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford... following Tel's decision to leave FC Bayern before Deadline Day," Plettenberg posted on X.
"Open race. But Man Utd and more teams are very well-informed."

Man United 'considering late January move for Tel'
Tel made the move to Bayern from Rennes in 2022, and he has represented the Bundesliga giants on 82 occasions in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and registering seven assists in the process.
The France Under-21s international scored 10 goals and registered six assists in 41 appearances for his Munich club last term, but he has found it difficult during the 2024-25 campaign, failing to score in 13 outings in all competitions.
Tel has been an unused substitute for three of Bayern's last four league matches, while he has only made two substitute appearances in the Champions League this term, which has allegedly led to frustration.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, "top Premier League clubs" are interested in the forward, so there is expected to be a scramble for his services late in the market.
"Mathys Tel's decision to leave Bayern exclusively revealed last night has opened doors to several clubs," Romano posted on X. Chelsea are still there since the beginning of January... while more top Premier League clubs are also keen and in active contact now. Race open."

Rashford, Garnacho continue to be linked with Man United exits
Barcelona remain the favourites to sign Rashford in the latter stages of the January transfer window, but a deal is incredibly difficult due to the Catalan outfit's financial issues, in addition to the 27-year-old's £315,000-a-week wages.
A lot of movement will need to happen in a short space of time for Rashford to depart, but both parties are hoping that an exit can be secured, with the player said to be 'no longer on speaking terms' with his head coach Amorim.
As for Garnacho, Napoli and Chelsea continue to be linked with the Argentina international, and Amorim said on Sunday night that he 'did not know' whether the 20-year-old would be leaving before the end of the transfer window.
Man United value Garnacho, who is classed as a home-grown player for the club, in the region of £60m.
