Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirms that Roberto Firmino could be in contention to face Brentford after recovering from a thigh problem.

Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino is in contention to make his comeback in Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The former Hoffenheim man has been struggling with a thigh injury since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the end of August and has missed subsequent clashes with Crystal Palace, AC Milan and Leeds United.

However, Firmino is now edging closer to a comeback, and Klopp is confident that the Brazil international will put his name in the hat for some minutes this weekend.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: "Bobby trained already for two or three days, so he is back in contention, let me say it like this. We used him a little bit as a 'joker' [in training].

"But he will be in the normal training and then we have to make a decision if we take him with us or not. Porto, 100 per cent. Brentford, we have to see."

The Reds boss also revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold has recovered from illness, while James Milner and Neco Williams may also be able to feature on Saturday.

However, Naby Keita will not be in contention for the clash with the Bees, while Klopp revealed in his pre-match press conference that Thiago Alcantara may be out until after the international break.
