Liverpool's James Milner: 'We're not far away from first win under Jurgen Klopp'

James Milner says that Liverpool are "not that far away" from gaining their first win under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner has insisted that he and his teammates are "not that far away" from going on a winning run under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German coach, who replaced Brendan Rodgers earlier this month, is yet to guide his team to a win following three consecutive draws.

On Sunday, Christian Benteke was 13 minutes away from giving Klopp his first win after scoring a header, but Sadio Mane, who was later sent off, equalised in the 86th minute at Anfield.

"We're not that far away," Milner told the Liverpool Echo. "We've only lost two games this year, we have drawn eight of the last nine or something ridiculous like that. We're not a million miles away. We know we need to improve and know we can improve.

"We had 70-odd shots in two games under the old manager, 35 shots midweek, it's going to take one game where we have a bit of luck and every shot goes in for us and we could go on a run where we are scoring three, four, five goals a game."

Liverpool's next game is a Capital One Cup tie against Bournemouth at Anfield on Wednesday.
