Malaga owner to continue investing "in the right places"

Malaga owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani's executive vice-president insists that they are not looking to sell the club.

Malaga owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani's executive vice-president, Moayat Shatat, has dismissed suggestions that they are looking to sell the club.

The Andalucian outfit have seen the departure of key players including attacking midfielder Santi Cazorla in the summer, as they were in the midst of an "internal restructuring".

"We have invested a lot in this project and we have no intention of walking away," said Shatat at a press conference.

"We love this club and both Sheikh Abdullah and [vice president and CEO] Abdullah Ghubn support the project and are excited. The club is not for sale."

Shatat promised that Al-Thani will continue to invest in Malaga, but "in the right places".

"The important thing is that there is a balanced investment to seek the best for the club," he said. "At no time have we said we are not going to continue investing.

"We will do so but in the way best suited to the club. We want to invest in the right places."

Shatat further announced that marketing expert Vicente Casado will now be Malaga's director-general, while former club striker Mario Armando Husillos will be their sporting director.
