Raheem Sterling tells Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola that he wants to move to Barcelona in January, according to a report.

Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling has reportedly told the club that he wants to sign for Barcelona in January.

The England international continues to struggle for consistent starts under Pep Guardiola and has admitted that he would be open to taking on a new challenge.

With Barcelona suffering numerous injury woes in attack this term, the Blaugrana have been linked with a January loan move for Sterling, in spite of reports claiming that they will struggle to afford his wages.

According to 90Min, Sterling has now informed Man City that he wants to move to Barca over the winter - initially on loan - as he does not expect to force his way back into Guardiola's plans.

The report adds that Man City will not stand in Sterling's way of an exit, and the former Liverpool starlet believes that the opportunity to don the Catalan colours is "too good to turn down".

Sterling has just two goals and two assists to his name from six games in all competitions this season and has started just three Premier League games in the 2021-22 campaign.
