Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms that Anthony Martial did not take part in the defeat to Leicester City due to injury.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Anthony Martial played no part against Leicester City due to an injury he picked up during the international break.

The ex-Monaco starlet netted his side's only goal in their draw with Everton before the international break but was nowhere to be seen at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Red Devils struck twice on the day but ultimately fell to a 4-2 defeat against Brendan Rodgers's side, and Solskjaer has now explained the reason for Martial's absence.

Speaking to MUTV, the United boss said: "No, he's come back from France [duty] not fit so he's not trained all week. Hopefully we can have him back soon."

The 25-year-old's goal against Everton is his only strike from seven appearances in all competitions this season, and he has recently been linked with a shock move to Newcastle United.

United's defeat to Leicester stretched their winless top-flight run to three matches as they prepare for Wednesday's Champions League battle with Atalanta BC.
