Wayne Rooney: 'Manchester United full of confidence'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says that the side are growing in confidence following the second victory in three days.

Wayne Rooney has insisted that Manchester United are growing in confidence following their victory over West Ham United.

The Red Devils' 2-0 triumph at Upton Park comes just three days after their 3-0 victory over Olympiacos at Old Trafford in the Champions League.

United have struggled in the league of late, however, with their defeat against Liverpool last weekend cutting them adrift of the European places.

"Today was a good result, a much needed result after last week," Rooney told Sky Sports News. "The win on Wednesday night against Olympiacos has given us all a big lift. I think you could see today, the confidence running through the team so it's a good victory and we're really pleased with that.

"The Olympiacos result was massive for us in terms of picking the fans up, picking ourselves up, after the defeat to Liverpool and today we played some lovely football.

"I'm a bit disappointed we didn't take a few more chances to make the game a bit easier but overall we played some good stuff, we defended excellently."

David Moyes's side are back in action on Tuesday night when they face local rivals Manchester City.
