David Moyes: 'Danny Welbeck is really important to Manchester United'

Manchester United manager David Moyes insists that Danny Welbeck is "really important" to the club amid speculation over the striker's future.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted that striker Danny Welbeck is "really important" to the club amid speculation over his future.

Reports surfaced earlier today suggesting that Welbeck was becoming increasingly frustrated at a lack of first-team football at Old Trafford, with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie above the England international in the pecking order.

However, Moyes is keen to keep the 23-year-old at the club despite having left him out of the starting lineup for his side's 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon.

"Danny Welbeck is really important to me and I really value him. There have been lots of stories. I can only tell you Danny Welbeck is really important to me and really important to Manchester United," Moyes told reporters.

Welbeck has scored 10 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils so far this season.
