Manchester United are believed to be plotting a move for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio after losing ground in their efforts to sign Gareth Bale.
Don Balon says that United boss Jose Mourinho has cooled his interest in former Tottenham Hotspur man Bale, and will now turn his attention to Asensio.
The 21-year-old has already made a name for himself in the Spanish capital, but is yet to cement a starting position in Zinedine Zidane's squad.
Mourinho, who is keen on the Spanish midfielder, could offer Asensio a starring role in United's squad if negotiations properly begin between the two clubs.
United, who defeated CSKA Moscow 2-1 in midweek to secure a spot in the Champions League knockout stages, face rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
