Steve McClaren: 'We must play without fear at Chelsea'

Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren says that his side need to play without fear when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has admitted that his side must start earning more points on their travels, starting against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Magpies have lost their last four away fixtures in the Premier League, with a total of just seven points being recorded from 12 matches.

However, McClaren has called on his players to perform without fear against Chelsea, who are yet to lose a game since the arrival of Guus Hiddink in December.

The 54-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We need to start picking up points away from home.

"Chelsea are hard to beat, very dangerous opponents, but we focus on ourselves.

"We need to be on the front foot. We have to go to Chelsea with no fear and have a go. We owe it to the away fans."

Newcastle currently sit one point above the relegation zone in the league standings.
