Alan Pardew: 'Manchester United are under pressure'

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that Manchester United are under pressure to take three points when the two sides meet at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he is hoping to capitalise on Manchester United's defeat to Everton on Wednesday night.

The Magpies go into Saturday's encounter one point ahead of the Premier League champions, and Pardew believes that the pressure is on United to earn a result at Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I think that they went 12 matches without a defeat before the Everton game, so there is no crisis.

"But for them, there is a little bit of pressure, and we have got to try to capitalise on that and make it difficult for them.

"If we can do that and get into the last period of the game, we could try to reverse a statistic that isn't very good, and that's Newcastle winning at Manchester United."

Pardew saw his team lose 3-0 to Swansea City on Wednesday evening, their first defeat since October 30.
