Michel Platini to continue being paid by UEFA

UEFA confirms that Michel Platini will continue to be paid his salary "until further notice" despite being hit by an eight-year ban from all football-related activity.

UEFA has confirmed that suspended president Michel Platini will continue to be paid his salary "until further notice".

Platini was banned from all football-related activity for eight years last month following investigations into a £1.3m payment made to him by FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

FIFA has already confirmed that Blatter, who was also hit with an eight-year ban, will continue to receive his salary until the February 26 election to appoint his successor, and UEFA has now revealed that Platini will also continue to be paid.

"Mr Platini is receiving a salary from UEFA, and will continue to do so until further notice. Individual salaries are of a confidential nature and therefore are not disclosed," read a statement from UEFA.

Both Platini and Blatter have appealed their bans and claim that the payment was for work carried out by Platini between 1998 and 2002.
