Sean O'Driscoll admits that he wants Nottingham Forest to emulate Wigan's style of play.

Nottingham Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll has revealed that he sees Premier League side Wigan Athletic as the benchmark for his club.

Despite Wigan having battled against relegation in the past few seasons, O'Driscoll said that his side can learn the style of football employed by Roberto Martinez's team.

"We want to get to where Wigan have got to," O'Driscoll told the Nottingham Evening Post. "It takes time to get things going. The way they play, the way they move, the understanding they have off the ball – that is where we want to get to.

"It is difficult to do that in the Championship, because you need to keep the ball. Everyone wants you to lump the ball forward sometimes, then you just end up losing it.

"We need to educate people. However the more quality players you have at your club, the better your team will be."

Forest have five points from their opening three Championship games.
