Nelson Oliviera double hands 10-man Nottingham Forest victory

Nelson Oliviera's double helps Nottingham Forest to a 3-1 victory over Reading at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest earned just their second win since mid-September with a 3-1 victory at home to Reading this afternoon, despite Jack Hobbs's second-half red card.

On his return to the Reading side, Matej Vydra got the visitors off to a good start with the opening goal after 14 minutes as he coolly slotted the ball beyond Dorus de Vries after Oliver Norwood's shot was deflected into his path.

Chris O'Grady had the chance to respond immediately, but dragged his effort wide after advancing into the area.

Nonetheless, the forward netted his first Forest goal in the 21st minute as he turned home Ryan Mendes's low cross.

Mendes then laid on the second goal for Forest as he teed up Nelson Oliviera, who curled a precise 20-yard shot into the top corner.

Reading almost levelled on the stroke of half time, but De Vries tipped Norwood's dangerous free kick around the post.

Forest extended their lead four minutes after the break when Oliviera netted his second from O'Grady's cross.

However, the hosts were dealt a blow in the 66th minute as Hobbs picked up a second yellow card, leaving Forest to play the remaining 24 minutes with 10 men.

Ola John wriggled free inside the area to tee up Vydra late on, but the forward's shot from eight yards out was blocked en route to goal as Reading failed to grab a goal back.
