Rafael Benitez: 'I know I have to win everything at Real Madrid'

Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez knows that he must win every trophy available to him if he is to meet the expectations of the club and its fans.

Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that he knows there is pressure on him to win every trophy available to the club this season if he is to satisfy the demands of the club's fans in his first season at the Bernabeu.

The Spaniard will take charge of his first competitive game as Real boss when Los Blancos travel to Sporting Gijon in the first game of the new La Liga season on Sunday.

The Spanish giants have won just one league title in the last seven years, but Benitez knows that expectations demand more than just a return to the domestic summit.

"I know what the people think, what the fans and our members think. They want the team to win the league but also the Champions League and the [Copa del Rey]," he told FIFA.com.

"To win the league we have to start well against Sporting. But when the Champions League and cup games arrive the demands will be the same.

"It is not a surprise that we have to win titles. It is normal at Real Madrid. We will do it by working hard and taking advantage of the individual talent that we have."

A former player and coach at Real Madrid Castilla, Benitez took over from Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of the first team in June following his resignation as Napoli manager.
