Heldon brace gives Rio Ave victory

Heldon nets a brace as Rio Ave defeat Pacos de Ferreira 2-0 in the Primeira Liga.

Rio Ave have beaten Pacos de Ferreira 3-0 in the Primeira Liga, with Cape Verdean striker Heldon scoring twice.

Pacos Ferreira started strongly and Christian tested Albuquerque Cassio from long range before Diogo Jota saw his shot blocked.

Andrezinho then missed the target and Joao Silva's header was saved.

Heldon opened the scoring in the 37th minute when he volleyed into the net from close range after Marvin Zeegelaar's cross.

The lead was doubled just three minutes later. This time, Heldon directed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Pacos Ferreira continued to push for a goal in the second half, but Roniel Costa and Fabio Martins both missed the target.

Helder Lopes forced a save from Jose Marafona in the 64th minute,.

Edimar completed the scoring in the 83rd minute when he directed a free kick into the top right corner.
