Shaun Maloney focusing on positives ahead of Euro 2016 qualifiers

Shaun Maloney calls on his Scotland teammates to maintain their current form heading into the Euro 2016 qualifiers which begin later this year.

Scotland midfielder Shaun Maloney has called on his teammates to maintain their current form heading into the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Gordon Strachan's men drew 2-2 on Wednesday night against Nigeria to continue their recent positive run of results.

Since taking over last year, Strachan has guided the Scots to a string of victories, with a memorable win over Croatia last year proving to be the turning point.

"There is a feeling within the squad that players are doing well for their clubs and it seems really positive at the moment," Maloney is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. "It's up to us to continue this for as long as we can, but it's been a really positive way to end what has been a good last 12 months.

"If we can keep going this way for the next year, it will be really impressive. There will be setbacks along the way and how we deal with them will have a big bearing on how things continue for us.

"Germany are a standout team in our group, but there are a lot who will finish second and we have to continue to be hard to beat."

Scotland begin their qualifying campaign in September.
