Scott Laird turns down Preston North End to join Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe United sign Scott Laird on a three-year contract after the left-back turned down a new deal with Preston North End.

Scunthorpe United have completed the free signing of Scott Laird after the defender turned down the offer of a new contract with Preston North End.

The left-back has decided that a three-year deal with the League One Iron is better than staying with newly-promoted Championship side Preston.

He leaves Preston after three years and over 100 appearances for the Lilywhites. One of his seven goals for the club was their only goal in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United earlier this year.

Laird is Scunthorpe's sixth capture of what has been a busy off-season so far.
