Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte jokes that he will make Harry Kane play with "one leg" after an injury scare against Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has played down injury concerns surrounding Harry Kane, joking that the England captain will need to play with "one leg".

Kane produced his finest performance of the season to bag a brace in a 3-2 Etihad victory over Manchester City at the weekend, including the winning header deep into second-half stoppage time.

The 28-year-old sparked concern when he was seen limping at the end of the game, but Conte has brushed off any fears of a layoff and found time to crack a couple of jokes about his talisman.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Burnley, Conte said: "Harry had a hit on his back but he has to play. Even if he has one leg, he has to play," as quoted by football.london.

"He is good. Harry knows his importance to the team. I remember very well about this question that there is a sporting director in Italy, my friend. He said 'you can make a mistake about your wife but not with your striker'. I think this sums it up best."

Kane's brace at Man City took him up to 17 goals for the season in all competitions, although only seven of them have come in his 22 Premier League outings.
