Rio Ferdinand urges Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur in order to claim major trophies.

Rio Ferdinand has urged Harry Kane to move on from Tottenham Hotspur in an attempt to win major trophies.

Kane has established himself as one of the world's most potent centre-forwards, scoring 159 goals over five seasons, but is yet to win a major trophy.

The Englishman has recently come very close, guiding Spurs to the Champions League final and reaching the World Cup semi-final with England last year.

Speaking on BT Sport about the England striker, Ferdinand said: "If you look at it as if you're an individual, put yourself in Harry Kane's shoes, you're saying 'I'm off'.

"I've got to be honest with you, I'd be gone because I've not got time to hang around. I could get injured next season, I could lose form etc. I want to win now.

"I've given most of my career to this club and they haven't [won anything]. Yeah, you go very close, you can keep going very close, they've been close a few times of winning the league and then obviously the Champions League. It's not enough."

Kane signed a six-year contract at Tottenham in June 2018 - a deal which sees him earn around £200,000 a week.
