Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly failed with a loan approach for Roma playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo.
Spurs have already enjoyed a productive period in the transfer market, making as many as six senior additions ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Fresh faces have arrived for positions all over the pitch, most notably in the final third where Ivan Perisic and Richarlison have been signed from Inter Milan and Everton respectively.
Nevertheless, throughout the summer window, reports have persisted that Antonio Conte is an admirer of Zaniolo, who has established himself as a key member of Jose Mourinho's squad at Stadio Olimpico.
According to 90min, Spurs have indicated to their Italian counterparts that they are interested in signing the Italy international on a season-long loan deal.

However, Roma are said to have been left unsatisfied with the current proposal put on the table by the Premier League outfit.
The report indicates that Roma are only willing to do business if Spurs are prepared to commit to spending at least €50m (£42.3m) in the future.
As it stands, that appears unlikely with the North Londoners said to have only offered in the region of €35m (£29.6m), including add-ons, at this stage.
Zaniolo's time at Roma has been hindered by two serious knee injuries, but the 23-year-old still has 111 appearances to his name in all competitions.

Forty-two of those outings came during 2021-22, Zaniolo contributing a total of seven goals and nine assists in a campaign where Roma won the Europa Conference League.
While the Italy international remains an important member of the squad, Mourinho has been given the freedom to make numerous high-profile additions this summer.
Paulo Dybala has signed on a free transfer from Juventus, while reports have hinted that free agent Andrea Belotti is on the brink of joining the Argentine in penning a deal with I Giallorossi.
Zaniolo also has just two years remaining on his Roma contract, something else which will be taken into consideration if offers arrive for his signature.
