Tottenham Hotspur reportedly never returned with an improved bid for Wolves winger Adama Traore on deadline day after seeing their initial offer of £30m rejected.

Tottenham Hotspur did not return with an improved bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore on deadline day, according to a report.

The early Premier League leaders were linked with a move for the Spain international for much of the summer transfer window following manager Nuno Espirito Santo's switch from Molineux to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Athletic reports that Tottenham lodged a £30m bid for Traore on Monday, only to see that swiftly rejected.

Wolves are understood to have told Spurs that it would take a bid of £50m for them to consider letting Traore leave so late in the transfer window, and the report claims that Tottenham then never returned with an improved offer.

The 25-year-old's contract at Molineux does not expire until 2023, although he was reportedly keen on a reunion with Nuno in North London.

Traore has been a key attacking figure for Wolves at the start of the new season, despite Bruno Lage's men being yet to score or pick up a point in the Premier League.
