Mark Hughes: 'Fans appreciate the new Stoke City style'

Mark Hughes believes that the fans appreciate Stoke City's new fluid style.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is confident that the club's fans appreciate the new style that he has implemented.

The Welshman has preferred a more fluid, short passing style to the direct nature of his predecessor Tony Pulis.

He wants his side to score more goals and explained the benefits of controlling possession.

"I think people are enjoying what we are producing," Hughes told The Sentinel. "We are playing in a different way and creating chances.

"We are pleased with the control we are having in games. That's important because we want players in the opposition half and we have to do that by progressive build up play from the back.

"Our goals-to-chances percentage needs to be higher, but we are creating good chances against good teams and it's only a matter of time, I feel, that we take a game away from somebody."

Stoke take on Norwich City this afternoon.
