England trail by 393 runs at the close of play on the second day of the third Test match against New Zealand.

New Zealand have claimed two England wickets before the close of play on day two of the decisive third Test in Auckland.

The tourists finished on 50-2 with Nick Compton (12) and Ian Bell (6) at the crease.

Alastair Cook (4) was the first man to fall as he edged Trent Boult's leg-side delivery to BJ Watling to give the hosts a breakthrough in the third over.

Boult then removed Jonathan Trott (27) with a delivery that seamed off the flat pitch and struck plum on the knee roll.

A review proved futile as umpire Paul Reiffel's decision was shown to be completely correct.

England will resume tomorrow trailing by 393 runs.
