Sampdoria survived a number of AC Milan attacks to take a 0-0 draw into the break from their trip to the San Siro this afternoon.
Hosting Milan started the brighter of the two sides and created the first real chance of note with eight minutes played. The ball fell to Kevin-Prince Boateng inside the area, but the former Portsmouth midfielder was unable to keep his effort on target.
Next to have an attempt was Robinho, who also failed to trouble the visiting goal in the 20th minute.
Perhaps the home side's best chance was presented to centre-back Mario Yepes. Robinho was the creator, crossing for the Colombian defender, who found himself unmarked eight yards from goal. However, his header lacked accuracy and the ball went over the bar.
Milan finished second behind champions Juventus last season.
