The 35-year-old has missed three weeks of action after he damanged his knee on October 10.
The club revealed on their official website that he has now joined up with the first team to take part in their sessions.
The Dutchman will not feature in Saturday's Serie A trip to Roma but he could make an appearance at BATE Borisov in the Champions League next Tuesday.
