Experienced goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has signed a new one-year contract with Italian giants AC Milan.
The 37-year-old, who has been with Milan since 1998, was widely expected to seek pastures new this summer after losing his spot to Diego Lopez last season.
However, the four-time Italian international has extended his stay at the San Siro.
"AC Milan would like to announce that Christian Abbiati has signed a new contract until June 30, 2016," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The veteran shot-stopper is coming off a good season on a personal level in which he didn't pick up a single injury. On a collective level however it was a tough season and Abbiati, Rossonero through and through, is as determined as ever to bounce back and make amends this season."
Abbiati has won three Serie A titles with Milan, the last of which came in 2011.
