James Beattie pleased with League Two survival

Accrington Stanley boss James Beattie reveals his delight after securing the club's status in the Football League for another season.

Accrington Stanley boss James Beattie has admitted that securing the club's status in the Football League for another season was "a very special moment".

Stanley took just two points from their first 10 League Two games this season, but now sit 16th in the table, seven points clear of the drop zone with a game to spare.

"It goes up there as a very special moment," he told BBC Sport.

"This time last year, I was a player in that dressing room. I said it was a great journey for me and probably one of the highlights of my career, even though it was a relegation battle.

"This time, we were in the same sort of thing, but I'm the manager. In my fledgling managerial career, it's got to be a highlight to maintain Football League status with the battles we fight on a daily basis at the club."

Beattie appeared for five separate Premier League clubs during a successful playing career, while the former striker also won five England caps.
