Javier Mascherano denies rift with Ever Banega after Copa America final defeat

Argentina defender Javier Mascherano insists that he did not come to blows with teammate Ever Banega following the country's Copa America final defeat to Chile.

Argentina defender Javier Mascherano has denied accusations that he came into confrontation with teammate Ever Banega following his side's Copa America final defeat to Chile.

Banega was one of the men guilty of missing a spot kick as Chile ran out 4-1 victors during a shootout, and Mascherano has since dismissed accusations that he confronted the midfielder in the dressing room after the game.

"I heard that I grabbed Ever but I'm not like that. It's ridiculous," according to Ole.

"I would never point my finger at someone who had the balls to take a penalty in a final before 70,000 people."

Mascherano has represented his country 117 times on the international stage.
