Emmanuel Petit: 'Arsenal lacked fight'

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit says that the Gunners showed a lack of fighting spirit in their Champions League thrashing by Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has stated that the team did not show enough fighting spirit in their heavy Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The Gunners fell 3-0 behind inside the first half before going on to lose 5-1 at the Allianz Arena to the Bundesliga champions.

Petit has admitted that he was left frustrated with the way that Arsene Wenger's men capitulated in Germany.

"It's always the same story with Arsenal," the Frenchman told BT Sport. "When they are against the wall they show character. They were very good against Bayern [at home] and Manchester United.

"The reaction was great but it has to be like that all the time."

Arsenal face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
