Arsene Wenger: 'We can end Bayern Munich's Champions League dream'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that his side can end Bayern Munich's dream of being the first team to retain the Champions League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side can beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League this evening.

The Bundesliga champions are vying to become the first team retain the Champions League, having won the trophy last season, and while Wenger accepts that they are one of the best teams in the world, he thinks that his Gunners side can end Bayern's dream.

He told reporters: "Last year Bayern won everything. Maybe in the style there is always room for improvement but if they just do the same achievements this season they can say they have improved because it's more difficult to do it again.

"I think we are in much better mental shape than one year ago. Every minute counts in a game of this stature. It's down to our defending.

"They have five or six players who can score any time. We were too nervous at the beginning of the game last year. We know that we face the favourites but we believe we can do it."

The first leg of the tie will be played at the Emirates.
