Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to make late call on Alexis Sanchez fitness

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he will make a late call on Alexis Sanchez's fitness ahead of Saturday's clash against Manchester United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that he will make a late decision on whether or not to play Alexis Sanchez in Saturday's Premier League clash against Manchester United.

The 27-year-old suffered a muscle injury while training for Chile during the international break last week, but recovered in time to score twice in his nation's World Cup qualifying win over Uruguay on Tuesday.

Sanchez declared himself fit for the United showdown, but his manager has not yet made a final decision.

"I haven't heard a lot because we were in doubt 24 hours before the game against Uruguay," Wenger told reporters in Thursday's press conference.

"We didn't know if he'd play or not. In the end they decided to play him. He texted us to tell us he's in good shape after the game. He came off after 84 minutes and now we have to wait. I see him tomorrow morning and then I will see if he can be involved in the squad or not.

"What I will consider is the risk of injury because he played while recovering from a hamstring injury. I'll consider the way he feels as well. On that front you depend on the honesty of the player, how they feel and how they recover."

Meanwhile, right-back Hector Bellerin has been ruled out for four weeks with an ankle injury.
