Liverpool are allegedly unwilling let Darwin Nunez leave Anfield in the latter stages of the January transfer window despite significant interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool are reportedly not prepared to let Darwin Nunez leave Anfield in the latter stages of the January transfer window despite significant interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The Reds signed Nunez from Benfica in the summer of 2022, and he has represented the Merseyside giants on 125 occasions, scoring 39 goals and registering 21 assists in the process.

The 25-year-old has six goals and four assists in 29 appearances this term, but he is not first choice under Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, and there has recently been speculation surrounding his future.

There is thought to be significant Saudi interest in the Uruguay international, who has a contract at Anfield until June 2028, but according to The Athletic, Nunez will not be leaving in the latter stages of the market.

Liverpool have allegedly decided that Nunez is not for sale due to the difficulty in sourcing a replacement this late in the transfer window, and Slot is wary of leaving himself short in the final third of the field.

Al-Nassr are close to signing Jhon Duran from Aston Villa in a mega-money deal, meaning that Cristiano Ronaldo's side are no longer an option for Nunez, but there are thought to be other clubs in the race.

Nunez has only managed one goal in seven Champions League appearances this season, while he has only four goals and two assists in 17 outings in the Premier League during the 2024-25 campaign.

The forward has only started seven times in the Premier League this term, although he was named in the starting XI on five occasions in the league phase of the Champions League.

Liverpool are chasing success in four competitions this season, and they will return to Premier League action away to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, before welcoming Tottenham Hotspur for the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on February 26.

Slot's side will then travel to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup ahead of a Merseyside derby with Everton in the Premier League.

The Merseyside giants are currently top of the Premier League table, six points clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand, while they finished top of the Champions League table to advance to the knockout round of the competition.
