A number of Arsenal players are reportedly angry with Unai Emery for not backing Granit Xhaka after he clashed with fans in the Gunners' 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

A number of Arsenal players are reportedly angry with Unai Emery for not backing Granit Xhaka following his altercation with fans in the Gunners' 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

With the scores level at 2-2 after an hour, Emery replaced Xhaka with Bukayo Saka; the Gunners had raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes but allowed Palace to restore parity.

The decision was met with cheers from Arsenal fans and Xhaka responded by walking off the field slowly and tossing his armband at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, before inciting the crowd and cupping his ear as he was booed, then swearing at fans and dropping his shirt as he stormed down the tunnel.

In his press conferences since the game, Emery has insisted that Xhaka's actions were wrong and has privately told the player to apologise - which he has refused to do, according to The Sun.

However, a number of players reportedly believe that Emery should have backed Xhaka publicly and are unhappy with the way their manager has handled the situation.
