Olivier Giroud would welcome another striker

Olivier Giroud insists that he would not be concerned if Arsenal were to sign another striker.

Olivier Giroud has stressed that he would welcome the prospect of Arsenal signing another striker to compete with him this season.

The France marksman endured a trying end to the 2014-15 campaign, leading to criticism from the Gunners' all-time leading goalscorer Thierry Henry.

Speculation has mounted that his international colleague Karim Benzema - who starts ahead of him for Les Bleus - could join the club, and Giroud insists that competition is healthy.

"I'm not honouring this question. I'm trying to focus on my pre-season preparations," he told the club's official website.

"We are doing well together with a really good [cohesion] and the most important for me is that the team is always improving.

"If there is a new striker, it will be nice for all the team, because competition is good for everyone."

Giroud, who missed three months of last season with a foot injury, netted 19 times in 25 starts.
