Laurent Koscielny denies Barcelona contact

Laurent Koscielny says that he had no desire to leave Arsenal before penning his new three-year deal with the Gunners.

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has said that he did not have any contact with Barcelona before signing a three-year extension at the Emirates Stadium.

The Catalan outfit were linked with a shock move for the 26-year-old centre-back following an impressive season for the Gunners.

However, the France international said that his only desire was to continue his development under Arsene Wenger.

"My idea was to extend to continue to stay at Arsenal," Koscielny told French radio station RMC. "Personally, Barca did not contact me. Maybe they did speak to my agents, but I did not talk to them.

"They knew my position. I wanted to stay here to continue to develop with this club."

Koscielny joined Arsenal from Lorient for £8.45m in 2010.
