Thomas Vermaelen believes that Arsenal have enough quality to close the seven-point gap and reach fourth place in the league table.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has refused to give up on a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners have slipped down to seven points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the table following their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea yesterday.

"It was really frustrating," Vermaelen told the club's official website. "We know we have the quality to beat Chelsea but it's all about results.

"We don't have to look too far ahead. There's still a long way to go. I'm still confident. You could see it [yesterday] in the second half. I'm still confident we can get a good [position]."

The North London side welcome West Ham United to the Emirates on Wednesday.
