Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: 'Alexis Sanchez is exhausted, it's too much'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that Alexis Sanchez is "exhausted" and hints that the Chilean needs a rest.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that he is demanding too much from an "exhausted" Alexis Sanchez.

The French boss has hinted that his star player needs another rest following his performance in Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Sanchez, who joined the Gunners from Barcelona last year, has scored 10 goals for club and country in his last seven games.

"You could see he was a bit jaded physically," Wenger told reporters. "He pushes himself so much but he finished exhausted. He played two games with Chile, plus the travelling, plus Watford, plus tonight - it's too much."

Arsenal's win over Bayern boosts the club's chances of reaching the knockout rounds of the Champions League following defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos.
