Arsene Wenger hails Petr Cech after Bayern Munich win

Arsene Wenger praises Petr Cech's display in his side's 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped praise upon Petr Cech after the goalkeeper made several saves to keep out Bayern Munich in the Champions League clash at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

Goals from Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil secured a 2-0 win for Arsenal after Cech had denied Robert Lewandowski, Thiago Alcantara and Douglas Costa.

Wenger, who controversially left Cech out of the home defeat to Olympiacos last time out, hailed the 33-year-old's display and praised his side for turning a fiercely-competed match into three crucial points.

"It was a game of top quality," he told BT Sport. "We played with disciplined intensity. Both keepers made great saves.

"Petr Cech was a key figure. He was intelligent, everything [he does] is classy. There were two world-class goalkeepers out there tonight."

"Overall we have beaten a very strong team. We kept a clean sheet as well. I always had hope because as long as we fought I told them at half time that we could win this game in the second half, but we needed to keep a clean sheet and very strong discipline."

Arsenal's first victory of their European campaign leaves them joint-third in Group F, just three points behind Bayern and Olympiacos.
