Arsene Wenger: 'Abou Diaby can replace Alex Song'

Arsene Wenger says that Abou Diaby can replace Alex Song as Arsenal's midfielder general.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Abou Diaby can replace Alex Song as the side's midfield general.

The Frenchman, who has returned from long-term injury, has played in all three of the Gunners' games so far this season and was awarded man of the match for his display in the club's 2-0 win at Liverpool on Sunday.

The North London oufit failed to sign a replacement for Alex Song, who left for Barcelona in August, but Wenger feels that Diaby is capable of taking the role upon himself.

"If he is fit and healthy then of course he has the talent [to replace Song] that you have seen today," said Wenger.

"And of course there is more to come but let's touch wood and hope it goes well in the next two or three weeks for him."

Arsenal are the only team in the top four divisions in England who are yet to concede a goal this season.
