Arsene Wenger says that he enjoys the challenge of rebuilding his side at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has insisted that he relishes the challenge of rebuilding his squad despite several high-profile departures in the last few seasons.

Arsenal sold Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri at the beginning of last season, and have let Robin van Persie and Alex Song go this summer.

Wenger claimed that he remains excited by the challenge and is confident that his side will prosper in the coming weeks.

"To rebuild is exciting as well. We can click very quickly because we look like a team on the pitch at the moment," he said.

"Of course if you gave me a choice, I would have preferred to keep van Persie.

"There are not many players in the world who can score 30 goals a season at this level."

The French manager says that he is still targeting Premier League success but admitted that Arsenal cannot compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in the transfer market.

He continued: "The aim is always to win the title. If you don't do it people are disappointed and I am the first one to be upset.

"Today we are already in a stronger position financially.

"We face teams that have no limit on their resources, so it is difficult."

Arsenal have managed two goalless draws so far this season and will play Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon.
